NOTE: Township projects are a legacy system that is no longer used in Kelek.

What is a Township Project?

Township Projects are any organized effort to improve the town of Onadbyr. This mostly takes the form of constructing specialty buildings, improving shops, or repairing the city. Any character in Kelek can contribute gold, labor, or special resources to a Township Project. Likewise when a Township Project is complete, every character in Kelek benefits from it. Township Projects are the main source of new archetypes, ancestries, items, feats, or services.

How do I contribute?

Township Projects are organized in the Discord under the Township Projects forum. Each forum post is dedicated to its own Township Project with the necessary information being pinned at the top of the thread. You can see how much has already been contributed, what still needs to be contributed, and what the resulting unlocks will be once the project has been completed. If you would like to contribute to a Township Project, discuss how a specific character is contributing in the forum thread. Some contributions like labor require a roll, those are handled with a Storyteller whenever they are available.

Township Project requirements take several forms;

  • Gold: A flat gold value necessary to be donated.
    • e.g. 50gp
  • Bulk Supplies: Raw supplies measured in bulk that will need to be supplied. Depending on the type of material there may be an alternative Gold cost.
    • e.g. 100 Bulk Lumber, Brick, Mortar (20gp Import Price)
  • Skilled Labor: Skilled labor requires ability checks and Downtime to complete. Any skilled labor contribution will list a target DC per however many days, as well as any modifiers or conditions for the roll.
    • e.g. 2 Weeks Laboring (DC 13/4 Days Athletics Check. Double Speed on Crit Success)
  • Personnel: Sometimes a specific person may be required, like a master blacksmith capable of working with rarer metals. These are usually found through specific Expeditions.
    • e.g. 1 Master Mithralsmith
  • Real-Life Time: Once a project is completed it may require a certain amount of real time before the project is usable.
    • e.g. Time (2 weeks)
  • Quest Completion Requirement: Some Township Projects may require specific Expeditions to be successfully completed before they can be finalized.
    • e.g. Complete Expedition (March of the Grand Golem)

Any of these requirements may list a Karma value as well as the contribution. A player can choose to donate the Karma value in place of the contribution listed. For example, the requirement "Time (2 weeks) (2 karma)" could be completed by waiting 2 real-life weeks or by donating 2 collective karma.

Requesting Township Projects

Any player can request a Township Project by submitting a Ticket. If your suggestion is approved by a Storyteller, it joins a pool of potential Township Projects. At the beginning of each real-life month any player can submit their vote for the next Township Projects they want focused on.
